At the SALC conference, this year right next to the Conference Hotel is a small park called Cancer Survivors Park.  I have a personal connection to this site in a few ways.  First I have had loved ones and friends who have been affected in one form or another by cancer.  I personally lost two Uncles and my Grandfather to this horrible disease.  I also have friends who have beat the disease and I am so proud of them to keep this on a positive note.

Another connection that I have to this site is that it was one of the first designs that I had done in my career.  I was fortunate enough to visit the site during the conference at night to see the design.  I was pleased to see that my lighting design was still in place, even though the design was done over 20 years ago.  Although some of the fixtures were out of alignment from my original design, and a few had lamps that were extinguished, the design still looks good.  As I was walking through the site, I remembered all of the aspects of the design and was pleased to see that it was installed as I had designed it.  I also thought of my friends and family who have been affected by cancer.  It was emotional for me, but I am so happy that I had the opportunity to visit the site.  Below are a few pictures that I would like to share.
