Project Description

PROJECT SUMMARY

This is one of our most recognized designs. We were honored to do this design not only to give something back to the Boy Scouts, but also because it earned us the IIDA Award of Merit for the Exterior design in 2004. This was a new facility, and  we were the designer for the entire concept both for the interior and exterior designs. We wanted to incorporate the interior lighting into the exterior space. When looking at the photo, the design of the entrance blends itself to the outdoor environment as well, highlighting the wood of the ceiling. This was intended to bring some of the natural environment into the space. Different color temperature fixtures were used to highlight the materials used on the building as well as the landscape lighting. We felt that there needed to be a balance of lighting for the facade, but also be conscious of the night sky, something that all scouts should experience. Besides winning the IIDA Award of Merit, it was also featured on the cover of Lithonia Lighting’s Product selection Guide volume 8.
